"We're committed to establishing an explosive and efficient offensive attack," said Holgorsen. "We've overhauled our game plan to prioritize tempo, passing efficiency, and scoring opportunities." The new offense will feature a focus on up-tempo spread formations, utilizing the athleticism of quarterback Casey Thompson and playmakers like Trey Palmer and Omar Manning.
"Our defense is undergoing a complete makeover," added Holgorsen. "We're transitioning to a 3-3-5 scheme that emphasizes pressure, ball disruption, and creating turnovers." The 3-3-5 scheme is known for its multiplicity and ability to generate confusion for opposing offenses. Holgorsen has brought in experienced defensive coordinator Erik Chinander to oversee the transformation.
"We've been aggressive in reshaping our roster through the transfer portal and recruiting," said Holgorsen. "Our goal is to acquire talented players who fit our new schemes and can contribute immediately." Nebraska has added several key transfers, including quarterback Chubba Purdy from Florida State, wide receiver Isaiah Garcia from USC, and defensive lineman Oluwaseyi Omotosho from Oklahoma.
"We're fostering a culture of accountability, hard work, and discipline," said Holgorsen. "Our players are expected to be leaders on and off the field." Holgorsen has implemented strict standards and expectations for both players and staff. He believes that creating a positive and supportive environment is essential for success.
"We're excited about the future of Nebraska football," concluded Holgorsen. "We've laid the foundation for a new era of success. Our players are eager to prove themselves, and we're confident that we can compete for championships in the years to come."
Nebraska fans are eagerly anticipating the 2023 season as Holgorsen's transformative changes take hold. The Huskers will aim to build on their momentum from the 4-8 record in Holgorsen's first season and return to prominence in the Big Ten and nationally.
