USWNT vs Netherlands player ratings: Horan-inspired comeback saves

Despite struggling in the first half, the USWNT rallied in the second half to earn a well-deserved result. Two young players, goalkeeper Casey Murphy and defender Malia Pugh, played crucial roles in the comeback.

The 24-year-old Murphy made her first start for the USWNT and put in a performance that will surely be remembered. She was calm under pressure and made several key saves, including a brilliant stop on a free kick from England's Georgia Stanway.

Pugh was a constant threat to the English defense. Her pace and dribbling ability gave the USWNT a much-needed spark in the attacking third. She also scored the equalizer in the 84th minute, a well-taken goal that capped off a strong performance.

Sonnett started at center-back alongside Naomi Girma and had a solid game. She made several important clearances and interceptions, but was caught out of position on occasion.

Long played in midfield and was effective in distributing the ball. However, she struggled at times to win the ball back from England's aggressive press.

The 38-year-old Lloyd made her first USWNT appearance since December 2021 and showed glimpses of her old self. She was involved in the build-up to Pugh's goal, but also missed a good chance in the first half.

The draw against England provides the USWNT with a valuable learning experience ahead of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup. The team showed resilience in coming back from a deficit and will be encouraged by the performances of Murphy and Pugh. However, there are still areas that need improvement, particularly in the first half of matches.
